Festival Of Orienteering

        When:    Friday, April 26, 2002, Start at 12:00 Noon


       Where:   Ambelside Park, West Vancouver


        Start Location and Time: 

                    Parking lot, near  Adventure Playground

                            Registration after 10:00 a.m. Championship START at 12:00 Noon

                            Clossing/ Awards Ceremonies at 2:00 p.m.



Eight categories: 5 for boys & 5  for girls in 4 different courses by length & level of difficulty (From 1.0  to  3.0 km.)


            Course 1       Beginners 10 and under     

                                    Special Olympics Category(wheelchairs accessible)

Course 2       Advanced 10 and under                  

            Course 3       Beginners 11 -12 

            Course 4       Advanced 11 -12  and   Boys 13, Girls 13


Each School can have max 4 athlets in each category for the championship

Unlimited number of participants in the workshops and Orienteering Game

                 $ 5.00                    $  7.00                        $ 60.00

1   To assure a quality event pre-registration is required.

Awards:    Medals  for the 1-st, 2-nd and 3-rd  place in each category. 

                                                 BC Elementary School Champion will receive a special OABC  AWARD

                                                (points for each participant in every category placed 1-st to 6-th

                                                1-st = 30pts; 2-nd =25pts;  3-rd =20pts;.Ö6-th = 5 pts.)


Each participant in the morning of the Festival of Orienteering will qualify for a Premierís Sport Awards Program Orange crest.

                                                All BC Championship participants will qualify for a Blue crest.
